EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE INDIAN WEIGHTLIFTING FEDERATION RESIGNED
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE INDIAN WEIGHTLIFTING FEDERATION RESIGNED
Entire executive committee of the Indian Weightlifting Federation resigned during its emergency meeting after taking responsibility for the rampant doping in the sport of the country. This decision is taken under intense pressure from Union Sports Minister MS Gill and the Indian Olympic Association following a series of dope cases by country's lifters.
The Indian weightlifting governing body was banned in 2004 and 2006 due to three or more positive tests in a calendar year. Recently three more Indian Weight lifters were caught in World Anti-Doping Agency tests at a training camp.
